Summary
Fiona Lake has a busy and varied civil practice in the fields of reparation and commercial law. She has extensive experience in personal injury claims including catastrophic brain injury and clinical negligence cases. She was recently instructed as junior counsel for the defenders in D’s Parent and Guardian v Greater Glasgow Health Board, 2011 CSOH 99 (birth injury and first Scottish case dealing with the issue of periodic payment orders). She is instructed for both pursuer and defender.
Experience
Fiona Lake practices principally in the Court of Session and also appears in the High Court of Justiciary, Sheriff Court and before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. She has acted in fatal accident inquiries in the Sheriff Court. She has experience in high value, complex cases and has appeared in civil jury trials including a civil jury trial on medical negligence.
Before calling Fiona worked as a solicitor at a large commercial firm specialising in commercial and intellectual property litigation and as a legal translator for the European Court of Justice.
