Experience
Marcus Mckay has a broad range of appearance work in a variety of courts and tribunals including: the Court of Session, High Court of Justiciary, Court of Criminal Appeal, Sheriff Court (including Fatal Accident Inquiry, referrals from the Reporter to the Children's Panel, and appeals to the Sheriff Principal), Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeals Tribunal, Planning Inquiry, and Planning Appeals.
He has provided written opinions in relation to a spectrum of legal issues including the following: planning and environmental law, judicial review, medical negligence, construction law, business law, leases, prisoners' rights and employment law.
He has experience in industrial injury claims, primarily acting for members of the Transport & General Workers Union, but also for insurers. Marcus Mckay is familiar with Environmental Impact Assessment legislation and practice. He has successfully resisted applications for judicial review of decisions made by planning authorities.

- Junior Counsel to Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited and SP Transmission Limited in public inquiry into the proposed Beauly - Denny 400kV overhead transmission line
- Junior Counsel to South Lanarkshire Council at local plan inquiry
- Acted for PC Fisher in successful employment law claim brought against Chief Constable of Tayside Police
- Thomas Sneddon v Renfrewshire Council [2009] CSIH 40 - Acted for Mr Sneddon in test case taxi licensing appeal.
