Summary
Since calling to the Bar in 1987, Alastair Kinroy QC's practice has been purely civil and very varied. He welcomes complex, unusual and demanding cases. He acts for private clients from all backgrounds and for corporate clients, both pursuing and defending. Alastair Kinroy acts in legal aid cases and will consider instructions on a speculative basis. He does Opinion work.
Experience
Extensive advocacy experience gained over 20 years and previously was a court solicitor in Edinburgh. This includes Inner and Outer House experience in a wide range of cases: reclaiming motions, proofs, judicial review hearings, procedure roll debates etc. Alastair's practice has been mostly in the Court of Session, with occasional Sheriff Court work. In his early years at the Bar he did a volume of Family Law work; in more recent years commercial work has been a significant part of his practice. His practice has always had a large element of personal injury work and professional negligence cases. It also includes Bankruptcy, Property Law, some Agricultural Holdings cases and other work. Alastair Kinroy is accustomed to dealing with complex scientific and technical evidence concerning, for example, neurology, psychiatry, biochemistry and engineering.
